Black Night 1.0.1
Black Night is "Shareware" and Copyright © 1995 Christopher Swan. For more
information, launch Black Night and then select "Black Night Registration" from
the "Help" or "Guide" menu.
Online Help, and all the usual readme information, can be found by launching Black
Night and selecting "Black Night Reference" from the "Help" or "Guide" menu (the
menu you use to turn on Balloon Help).
If you are running System Software prior to System 4.3, then you probably
shouldn't launch Black Night.
Internet Config
At least once, you should launch Internet Config and allow it to install the Internet
Preferences and Component. Black Night does not require Internet Config, but life
will be generally happier with it installed.
Setting up Black Night
Black Night has a graded competancy level interface. What this means is that novices
do not need to spend too much time setting things up. Try it out, launch Black Night
and double tap the 'Enter' Key; it just may work without any setting up at all.
However, once you become familiar with the basic interface, you should go exploring ...
Summary of Changes
Version 1.0.1 fixes several bugs and fine tunes a couple of parameters.
Escaping Control Characters using the built in ZMODEM Receiver
Version 1.0.0 specifically prevented control characters from being 'escaped'. This
would most likely show up as a 'failed' or 'high error rate' during ZMODEM downloads.
Status: FIXED
'Wait for call' using the Serial/Modem Driver
Version 1.0.0 specifically prevented 'Wait for call' using the Serial/Modem Driver
from working if there was no telephone number entered.
Status: FIXED
Instability when using Communication Toolbox File Transfer Tools
Version 1.0.0 would sometimes corrupt documents and helpers when you edit the
settings for Communication Toolbox File Transfer Tools. This would lead to frequent
" Configuration Invalid" dialogs and occassional random system crashes. This 'feature'
was most apparant with the Pacer ZModem Tool, however the bug was definately in
Black Night and not the Pacer tool.
Status: FIXED
Notes: Version 1.0.1 will attemp to repair your corrupted helpers and documents.
HEX headers with binary data subpackets using the built in ZMODEM Receiver
Version 1.0.0 was very unforgiving of ZMODEM senders that used HEX headers with
binary data subpackets. This is rare and you probably never noticed.
Status: FIXED
Processor hogging while in the background
Version 1.0.0 was a bit of a time hog when in the background. I've adjusted the timers
a little and you should find foreground applications a little more responsive in 1.0.1
Status: FIXED
